Showmax excludes Linux OS based devices from their renewed service
With the exception of Android devices from Google, real Linux based systems no longer work with the new Showmax service. A streamer would always be able to browse smoothly the links but any attempt to consume or stream a content would result in an error.
What could be the cause
Peacock streaming service running Showmax does not support Linux devices for streaming. Linux users have reported that Peacock blocks Linux outright and does not work even with a user agent. Peacock is available on various devices and platforms, including web browsers like Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, and Safari, as well as mobile and tablet devices running Android or iOS. It is also supported on connected TVs, game consoles, and streaming devices such as Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Google TV, LG Smart TV, PlayStation, and Roku. However, Linux devices are not included in the list of supported platforms.
Linux users have expressed frustration about the lack of support for Peacock on their devices and it seems Showmax is joining the against lot with Peacock.
To the Linux community, this would mean excluding Showmax services or Probably getting an extra device for accessing their service. Showmax should have a recheckof the long term nonetheless.
