Tecno presents Phantom Ultimate 2 with tri-fold
Tecno has recently unveiled the Phantom Ultimate 2, a tri-fold concept smartphone, at the Internationale FunkAusstellung Berlin (IFA). This innovative device features a 6.48-inch screen that unfolds to reveal a larger 10-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,620 x 2,880 pixels and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Tecno claims this is the first foldable phone to incorporate TDDI technology, which integrates the display driver and touch sensor onto a single chip, enhancing its functionality and design.
Design and Build
The phone measures just 11mm in thickness when folded and utilizes a dual hinge mechanism that has been tested for over 300,000 folds, ensuring durability and a crease-free display.
Display
The transition from a standard smartphone to a tablet-like experience is seamless, providing a versatile large-screen experience.
Battery
It boasts a remarkably thin battery cover, measuring only 0.25mm, which is touted as the thinnest in the industry.
Introduction of Use Case multiplicity
Tecno has showcased various use cases, including a laptop mode where the bottom half of the screen can be folded to create a keyboard, and a tent mode that allows two users to view content simultaneously.
Tecno has not yet announced a release date for the Phantom Ultimate 2, the device represents a significant advancement in foldable technology, with competitors like Huawei also expected to launch similar devices soon.
