How to activate AVIF format support for Photoshop
The plugin allows you to load and save single AVIF images with 8, 10, or 12 bits-per-channel.
Photoshop does not natively support the AVIF image format; however, you can enable this functionality by using the AVIF Format plugin. To open and work with AVIF files in Photoshop, you need to download and install the AVIF Format plugin. This plugin allows Photoshop to read and save AVIF images.
Installation Steps
- Visit the GitHub repository for the AVIF Format plugin and download the appropriate version for your operating system (32-bit or 64-bit).
- Extract the downloaded files and copy the
Av1Image.8bi
file into the “Plug-ins” folder of your Photoshop installation directory.C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\Av1Image.8bi
For Version-Specific Install Folder
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop [version]\Plug-ins
\Av1Image.8bi
NB: The plugin does not support image sequences or animations in AVIF format.
