How to set up DHL for eCommerce
DHL, also known as DHL Express, is a global leader in the logistics industry, specializing in international shipping, courier services, and transportation. DHL provide rate quotes, shipping labels, and tracking services through their online platform called MyDHL+ DHL Express is known for its fast and reliable delivery services.
Ownership and Global Presence
DHL was initially acquired by Deutsche Post in 1998, and by the end of 2002, Deutsche Post had acquired all of DHL’s remaining stock and integrated it into its Express division. The DHL brand is now used by various divisions and subsidiaries of Deutsche Post, including DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Freight, DHL Supply Chain, and DHL Global Mail.
DHL operates globally and is recognized as the leading global brand in the logistics industry. They have a strong presence in various countries and provide logistics services ranging from parcel delivery to e-commerce shipping and fulfillment solutions. DHL offers customer support services, including online tracking, shipment history, and contact information for customer service.
Setting up
1. Set your pickup address
This is the address used for courier collections. This address will also be printed on your shipping labels as the shipper address.
- Go to Settings, Pickup Address
- Enter your full shipping address
- Save.
2. Add your export account
Your DHL Express account manager will provide this to you. This is your unique shipping account number that identifies you with DHL Express. Your shipping account number is 9 digits long.
Having a valid DHL Express account number configured in DHL Express Commerce is necessary to being creating shipments.
- Go to Settings, Couriers, DHL Express Settings and Enable DHL
- DHL Account No, Enter your DHL Express export shipping account number.
- Save.
3. Set your DHL Express products
DHL Express offers a number of shipping products to cater for many different shipping requirements. Generally, our standard products used to ship internationally are:
- EXPRESS WORLDWIDE (WPX) | Our Time Definite International product. WPX is used when either the origin or destination countries are situated outside of the European Union.
- EXPRESS WORLDWIDE (ECX) | Our Time Definite EU product. This product is our shipping service for within the European Union only. Both the origin and destination countries are within the European Union.
Shipping from outside of the European Union | Our recommendation is to configure EXPRESS WORLDWIDE (WPX) to allow shipping internationally.
Shipping from the European Union | Our recommendation is to configure both EXPRESS WORLDWIDE (WPX) and EXPRESS WORLDWIDE (ECX) to allow shipping to both European Union and non-European Union destinations.
DHL Express plugin for WooCommerce
DHL Express offers a plugin for WooCommerce that allows users to create DHL labels and send tracking IDs to customers. To set up the integration, users need to follow a few basic steps, including configuring their DHL Express account information and preferences, connecting at least one integration platform, importing orders, validating the order shipping address, and printing labels.
