Google Domains may soon become Squarespace domains
Squarespace has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Google Domains. This means that Squarespace will be purchasing all domain registrations and related customer accounts from Google Domains. The acquisition aims to provide a seamless transition for customers, with Squarespace offering an integrated experience for purchasing and managing domains.
If you currently have a domain signuped with Google Domains, you don’t need to take any action at this time. Once the transaction between Google and Squarespace is approved, you will receive more information about the transition of your domain name(s). It’s important to note that if you have a Google Workspace subscription billed by Google Domains, billing and support services for your subscription will be transitioned to Squarespace.

Additionally, Squarespace will become the exclusive domains provider for customers purchasing a domain along with their Workspace subscription directly from Google for a minimum of three years. Squarespace will also provide billing and support services to Google Workspace customers who signed up for the service through Google Domains.
Some clarity for Customers affected
There is no immediate impact on your Google Domains account and there is nothing you need to do at this time. Once regulatory approvals are obtained and the transaction closes, you will become a customer of Squarespace, and your domain account will be owned and, after a transition period, managed by Squarespace. If applicable, at the time of transition, associated Google Workspace services will be automatically managed by Squarespace, subject to limited exceptions. Squarespace will contact you directly if any further action is required.
