Ratchet and Clank – Rift Apart requirements to run on PC

Sony announced back in May that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart would be coming to PC on July 26, but did not reveal the game’s technical requirements.

This week, new details were finally confirmed, raising an old discussion about releasing the title exclusively on PS5.

Ratchet and Clank was one of the first PS5 exclusive games, breaking the trend of hybrid releases that Sony was adopting at the time, aiming to maintain the PS4’s user base and make the transition to the new platform smoother. At the time, the developers explained that exclusivity was necessary due to the PS5’s powerful SSD, which allowed for the transition between dimensions in the game, although some experts claimed this was a lie.

With the announcement of the technical specifications on the PC, it was discovered that an SSD will not be needed to run it, which reignited the discussions.

Producers have confirmed the presence of NVIDIA’s DLSS 2 and 3, AMD FSR 2, and even Intel XeSS as resolution-boosting systems. These features are important when using ray tracing, as the game will support ray tracing reflections, ambient occlusion and shadows on the PC version, while the PS5 version only supports reflections.

Through the official PlayStation blog, Julian Huijbregts, Online Community Specialist at Nixxes studio, confirmed the release of the PC version for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

Scheduled for release on July 26, the PC version of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart brings ray-tracing reflections in a number of quality levels to choose from, as well as new ray-tracing shadows for natural light in open areas. With this, we will have realistic shadows with a natural and smooth gradient.

In addition, the port also has compatibility with 21:9, 32:9 and even 48:9 resolutions, for configurations with three monitors. Both the game itself and the scenes have been optimized for ultrawide screens.

The game supports unlocked frame rates and includes the latest performance-enhancing technologies. You’ll be able to choose from NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2, Intel XeSS, and Insomniac Games’ Temporal Injection. There is also compatibility with NVIDIA Reflex and NVIDIA DLAA, with image quality enhancement.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for PC offers full mouse and keyboard compatibility, with customizable controls. There’s also full controller compatibility: when using a wired DualSense controller, you’ll be able to feel the game’s actions come to life in your hands, with the tactile response and dynamic trigger effects.

The game will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and those who pre-order will earn the following items to go out using right at the start of the game:

• Pixelizer (weapon)
• Carbonox (armor set)

The PC version includes the five Digital Deluxe Edition armors and the 20th Anniversary Armor Pack, with five more armors inspired by previous games in the series.
