How to carry out the sorting
To sort rows by numbers in a column in Excel, follow these steps:
- Select the entire dataset, including the header row.
- Click the Data tab.
- Click the Sort icon.
- In the Sort dialog box, make sure My data has headers is selected. If your data doesn’t have headers, uncheck this.
- In the Sort dialog box, select the column you want to sort by.
- Under Sort On, choose Cell Values.
- Under Order, select Smallest to Largest or Largest to Smallest depending on your preference.
- Click OK to apply the sort.
