NVIDIA says Huawei is its competitor in the AI chip market
The Ascend series of chips developed by Huawei, particularly the 910B chip, is positioned as a rival to Nvidia's line of AI chips like the A100.

Nvidia has identified Huawei as a top competitor in the AI chip market, marking a significant development in the industry. Huawei is recognized by Nvidia as a competitor in various categories, including supplying chips designed for artificial intelligence such as GPUs, CPUs, and networking chips.
The Ascend series of chips developed by Huawei, particularly the 910B chip, is positioned as a rival to Nvidia’s line of AI chips like the A100. Analysts estimate that China’s AI chip market is valued at $7 billion, highlighting the significance of this competition.
Despite US sanctions restricting Huawei’s semiconductor development, the company has been strengthening its chip business through partnerships with domestic suppliers, leading to the emergence of the Ascend 910B AI chip that reportedly competes with Nvidia’s A100 GPU in terms of AI processing power.
Nvidia used to serve chips for Baidu and Alibaba, however United States sanctions have caused NVIDIA’s Chinese customers to swap their chips for Huawei options, since the cards allowed by Washington have lower performance.
Nvidia further highlighted Huawei as a cloud services company that designs its own hardware and software to improve and deliver a number of AI-based tools.
