MTN intensifies upgrades on Ghana network

As of 2025, MTN Ghana has been actively intensifying its network upgrades with significant investments toward expansion and enhancement. The company committed $250 million in 2025 to extend and improve its network nationwide, including relocating 130 km of fiber optic cables to enhance network resilience and deploying next-generation applications across more than 5,000 sites, with approximately 87.5% of these now 4G-enabled. This expansion also includes connecting previously uncovered communities, particularly in the Eastern Region, as part of MTN’s broader “Ambition 2025” digital inclusion goals. Credit cannot be underscored to the demands from the populace and the close marking measuring of performance on current government personnel by the citizenry.
Despite some recent technical issues, such as a temporary service disruption on 1st of July, 2025, affecting data bundle purchases, MTN remains focused on improving customer experience and service quality. Sometime this month, a planned six-hour nationwide Mobile Money service outage occurred on 17th August, 2025, to allow for a system upgrade aimed at enhancing transaction speed, security, and service delivery.
Today, the 24th of August, 2025 host of upgrades are ongoing with pre-informed expected temporary disruption on the MTN network today.
MTN Ghana’s ongoing efforts reflect an approach to strengthen network infrastructure, increase coverage and stay true to their “everywhere you go” imprints as the country executes accountability and the nation increase doing to support digital transformation and financial inclusion initiatives across the country.
