The Ghost Mode Guide: How to View a TikTok Profile Without Being Noticed

This method is the most straightforward and is officially supported by TikTok as an opt-in feature to manage profile view privacy.

TikTok, like many social platforms, has a feature that allows users to see who have visited their profile in the last 30 days. This “Profile View History” can be a great tool for creators, but for those who value privacy or want to browse privately, it can feel like digital surveillance.

Here is step-by-Step Guide on how to do that.

Follow these steps to ensure your profile visits go unnoticed:

Method 1: Through Settings and Privacy

  • Open TikTok and go to your profile by tapping the profile icon at the bottom right.
  • Tap the three lines menu or the eye icon at the top right (depending on the app version).
  • Go to Settings and Privacy, then tap Privacy.
  • Scroll down to find “Profile views” or “Profile view history.”
  • Toggle off the profile view history feature.
When switched off, you won’t be able to see who viewed your profile, but others also won’t know when you view theirs.

Method 2: Through the Profile Views Icon

  • Open the TikTok app and tap the “Profile” icon.
  • Look for the footprint icon (or sometimes an eye icon) at the very top of your profile page, next to the Menu icon and tap it.
  • On the Profile View History page, tap the Gear icon in the top right corner.
  • Turn the “Profile view history” toggle switch to OFF.

Key things you need to know 👇

You Lose Visibility Too:

When you turn off Profile View History, you also lose the ability to see who has viewed your own profile. This is the trade-off for anonymity.

Default State

This feature is often off by default. If you’ve never touched the setting, you might already be browsing discreetly!

It’s Not a Full Ghost Mode

This setting only prevents users from seeing that you visited their profile page. If you like, comment on, or follow their account, they will, of course, receive a notification, and your activity will still be visible on their post.

Video Views

TikTok also has a separate setting called Post View History (sometimes combined with Profile views under “Viewer History”). This feature lets users see who has watched their videos. To ensure full anonymity, check your Privacy settings and make sure this is also disabled
