Chromium OS
Chromium OS is a free and open-source operating system developed for running web applications and browsing the internet. It is the open-source version of Chrome OS, a Linux-based operating system created by Google. Chromium OS is based on the Linux kernel and utilizes the Chromium web browser as its primary user interface.
The operating system is designed to focus on web applications rather than traditional software or mobile apps. Initially released in 2009, Chromium OS has a three-tiered architecture consisting of the Chromium-based browser, system-level software and user-land services, and firmware.
An open-source project that aims to build an operating system that provides a fast, simple, and more secure computing experience for people who spend most of their time on the web.
Chromium Project
It includes the Portage package manager and has been developed by various contributors, including hobbyists who have created unofficial builds like “ChromiumOS Flow” and “ChromiumOS Lime.” There are organized efforts by manufacturers like Neverware, who produced a Chromium OS fork called CloudReady aimed at the educational market to extend the life of older PCs and laptop.
