The <code>%WinDir%<\/code> placeholder represents the Windows operating system folder (e.g., C:\\Windows).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wait for the scan to complete:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The scan may take some time to finish. Do not close the Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background wp-block-list\">\n<li>After the scan is complete, you will see one of the following messages:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations&#8221;: This means that no missing or corrupted system files were found.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation&#8221;: In this case, you can try running the SFC scan in safe mode and ensure that the PendingDeletes and PendingRenames folders exist under <code>%WinDir%\\WinSxS\\Temp<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Availability across Windows Versions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1: <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>The SFC command is available and can be run from the <a href=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/what-is-the-difference-between-command-prompt-and-powershell\/\">Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell<\/a> with administrator privileges<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Windows 7 and earlier<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>The SFC command is also available in these versions of Windows, but the DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) command is not available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"cls has-palette-color-14-color has-palette-color-1-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-ceb0a2a0d3e290c89e9b66aeb256768f\">Instead, the SFC command can be used to scan and repair system files.
