A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To fix the problem:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-palette-color-5-background-color has-background\">\n<li>Insert Windows cd and run a repair your computer option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File: \/boot\/bcd<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Status: 0xc000000f<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You may receive a similar error which lists the error code as 0xc0000034 or missing file: windows\\system32\\winload.exe instead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You may also receive further errors after trying to repair the bcd store using bootrec and bcdedit as follows;<\/p><div class=\"gtech-mid-cont\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"gtech-3318495419\"><div style=\"margin-right: auto;margin-left: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"gtech-2043865109\"><a data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/linkout\/17207\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"notrack\" aria-label=\"26001\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2023\/01\/26001.jpeg\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2023\/01\/26001.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2023\/01\/26001-768x960.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" width=\"500\" height=\"625\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The requested system device cannot be found.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The \u201cWindows Boot Configuration Data File is Missing Required Information&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The \u201cWindows Boot Configuration Data File is Missing&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cause and Fix<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most likely cause of this error is that you tried to dual boot two operating systems and then later decided to remove one. This inadvertently may have deleted the bcd boot store. The trick here is to run the above commands in the right order and set your boot partition to active. Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Make sure your boot partition is set to Active<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background\">\n<li>Boot from your DVD and choose the repair option. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the recovery console type \u201cdiskpart\u201d and press enter <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then type \u201clist disk\u201d to get a list of physical disks installed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"241\" src=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2023\/10\/photo_2023-10-28_08-25-06-jpg.webp\" alt=\"photo 2023 10 28 08 25 06\" class=\"wp-image-31791\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.991701244813278;width:750px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Diskpart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the example above we only have one disk in the machine, if you have more than one, identify the disk which has the Windows boot partition on it and then select it. Select it by typing \u201cselect disk 0\u201d (in this case). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background\">\n<li>Now type \u201clist partition\u201d. The Windows 7 boot partition is a 200 MB primary partition. As you can see below it was on disk 0. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select it by typing \u201cselect partition 2\u201d or whichever number matches your 200MB partition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"248\" src=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2023\/10\/photo_2023-10-28_08-42-50-jpg.webp\" alt=\"photo 2023 10 28 08 42 50\" class=\"wp-image-31792\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.935483870967742;width:750px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Select Win 7 Partition<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background\">\n<li>Now type \u201cdetail partition\u201d and look where it says \u201cActive\u201d. If it says yes then move onto the next section otherwise type \u201cActive\u201d and press enter, Windows should report the partition is now marked as active. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now reboot and boot into the recovery console again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Repairing the MBR and boot sectors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From the recovery console run these commands in this order;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background\">\n<li>bootrec \/fixmbr<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>bootrec \/fixboot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now reboot the machine again into the recovery console and type \u201cbcdboot path to your windows folder\u201c. Your windows folder will normally be <strong>c:\\windows<\/strong> but in the recovery console it may show up as D:\\windows so make sure you get the path right. In our case it was \u201cbcdboot d:\\windows\u201d. This will build a new bcd boot store and copy over all boot files needed to boot. Now reboot your machine one last time and it should work. If it doesn\u2019t run the two bootrec commands again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any additional operating systems you want to add use the bootrec \/scanos command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"cls has-palette-color-2-color has-palette-color-13-background-color has-text-color has-background\">If you still have issues you may have a system with a GPT disk.
