Squarespace has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Google Domains. This means that Squarespace will be purchasing all domain registrations and related customer accounts from Google Domains. The acquisition aims to provide a seamless transition for customers, with Squarespace offering an integrated experience for purchasing and managing domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This purchase includes approximately 10 million domains hosted on Google Domains spread across millions of customers.<\/p>Squarespace<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If you currently have a domain wp-signup.phped with Google Domains, you don’t need to take any action at this time. Once the transaction between Google and Squarespace is approved, you will receive more information about the transition of your domain name(s). It’s important to note that if you have a Google Workspace subscription billed by Google Domains, billing and support services for your subscription will be transitioned to Squarespace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In keeping with our efforts to sharpen our focus, we have entered into a definitive agreement with Squarespace for the acquisition of customer accounts of the Google Domains registrar business.<\/p>\nMatt Madrigal, Vice President and General Manager, Merchant Shopping of Google.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Squarespace will become the exclusive domains provider for customers purchasing a domain along with their Workspace subscription directly from Google for a minimum of three years. Squarespace will also provide billing and support services to Google Workspace customers who signed up for the service through Google Domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purchase is currently subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. Upon the closing of the transaction, your domain account will be owned by Squarespace but you will continue to manage your domain(s) via Google Domains as you do today, with Google\u2019s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service continuing to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
