With the update of the messaging and streaming platform,\u00a0<strong>subscribers of the &#8220;Nitro&#8221; plan will be able to make live broadcasts with resolution up to 4K @ 60 FPS<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>and rate of 8 Mbps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to AV1, only OpenH264 video codecs were available in Discord. The application uses hardware acceleration to decompress transmissions in H.264, and the new solution will be no different, as it will extract maximum potential for streaming on the platform using NVIDIA&#8217;s most advanced video cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delgado explains that the service uses\u00a0<em>peer-to-peer<\/em>\u00a0(P2P) architecture, so it will check if people watching the broadcast have AV1-compliant hardware in Discord. If so, the application uses the codec automatically; if not, the transmission is switched to H.264, so that everyone can see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Discord is currently rolling out an update that enables AV1 streaming with GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs!<br><br>The upate is rolling out starting this week and will slowly populate to all users.
