It is believed the confidential data in this dump was exfiltrated from Microsoft&#8217;s in-house systems around March this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Leaks which includes many non-public\u00a0<b>Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 builds\u00a0<\/b>created by Microsoft engineers for testing purpose in which\u00a0includes private debugging symbols defined by the engineers usually to help other in-house developers understand how some specific codes in the operating system works and what functions it calls, the Register\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2017\/06\/23\/windows_10_leak\/\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who has this information can scour it for security vulnerabilities, which could be exploited to hack Windows systems worldwide. The code runs at the heart of the operating system, at some of its most trusted levels. It is supposed to be for Microsoft, hardware manufacturers, and select customers&#8217; eyes only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leaked code is <strong>Microsoft&#8217;s Shared Source Kit:<\/strong> according to people who have seen its contents, it includes the source to the base Windows 10 hardware drivers plus Redmond&#8217;s PnP code, its USB and Wi-Fi stacks, its storage drivers, and ARM-specific OneCore kernel code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to\u00a0Microsoft&#8217;s\u00a0website, Shared Source Kit is available only for &#8220;<i>qualified customers, enterprises, governments, and partners for debugging and reference purposes.&#8221;\u00a0<\/i>However, BetaArchive says that the leak is just 1.2GB in size and now has been removed.from its servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201c<i>We have removed it from our FTP and listings pending further review just in case we missed something in our initial release. We currently have no plans to restore it until a full review of its contents is carried out, and it is deemed acceptable under our rules<\/i>.\u201d <\/p><cite> BetaArchive\u00a0 <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>BetaArchive\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.betaarchive.com\/forum\/viewtopic.php?t=37283\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. \u00a0The leaked files also contain\u00a0<b>Microsoft&#8217;s Windows 10 Mobile Adaptation Kit<\/b>, a private software toolkit created by Microsoft designed to run Windows 10 operating system on mobile devices.<br>So far, it\u2019s unclear who is behind this massive leak, but it could be from one of the Microsoft OEM partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Microsoft Confirms the Leak<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft has confirmed that a portion of Windows 10 source code has leaked online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote tr_bq is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cOur review confirms that these files are actually a portion of the source code from the Shared Source Initiative and is used by OEMs and partners,\u201d confirms a Microsoft spokesperson to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2017\/6\/24\/15867350\/microsoft-windows-10-source-code-leak\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">The Verge<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This development predicts a series of attacks in the coming days on Window 10 devices worldwide.
