Running Windows on Chromebook hardware is possible, but it requires some technical knowledge and tinkering. To begin, you would need;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things Needed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-palette-color-5-background-color has-background\">\n<li>A working Chromebook (for safety plug into power)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A working mouse \ud83d\uddb1&nbsp;hardware<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A screwdriver (only if you need it to remove a write protect screw)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bootable Windows OS Thumb drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extra Thumb drive if you would like a Chromebook OS backup.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lets get started.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By default, the BIOS of Chromebook is locked by a write-protect screw\/switch to prevent any accidental modification of the BIOS at which may render a Chromebook unusable. (at this point, you continue at your own risk) Removing the screw may void your warranty. Only proceed if you accept full responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-style-rounded\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"494\" src=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2022\/05\/oil-1280x494.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2022\/05\/oil-1280x494.png 1280w, https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2022\/05\/oil-640x247.png 640w, https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2022\/05\/oil-160x62.png 160w, https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2022\/05\/oil-768x296.png 768w, https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2022\/05\/oil-1536x593.png 1536w, https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/media\/2022\/05\/oil-2048x791.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On successfully removing the screw, cover things up to avoid any accident to your Chromebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Replace Chromebook BIOS with UEFI BIOS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to boot into Developer Mode to begin the UEFI BIOS install. You should know that your Chromebook will be WIPED when you enable or disable Developer Mode. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list has-palette-color-6-background-color has-background\">\n<li>Press Esc + Refresh + Power<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press Ctrl + D and press Enter to enable developer mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press Ctrl + D to boot Chrome OS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open a tab and press Ctrl + Alt + T<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type in &#8220;shell&#8221; and press Enter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paste the following into the shell and press enter<br>cd; curl -LO mrchromebox.tech\/firmware-util.sh; sudo install -Dt \/usr\/local\/bin -m 755 firmware-util.sh; sudo firmware-util.sh <br>(If you wish to back up your chromebook for latter attempt at reinstalling, you may back it up when asked. If not, do not.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select &#8220;Full UEFI Firmware&#8221; from the options.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Power Off  when done.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Time for Windows OS Install<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your choice of Windows Operating system is dependent on your use case of reason for wanting to move away from Chrome OS. For optimum results, <a href=\"https:\/\/gtechbooster.com\/tag\/windows-10\/\">Windows 10<\/a> is recommended at this time.
