In Windows 10, delaying updates can be useful if you want to avoid interruptions or if you prefer to wait for a stable release. However, there are limits to how long you can delay updates, depending on the edition of Windows 10 you are using. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be aware that delaying updates for too long can leave your computer vulnerable to security threats and may cause compatibility issues with newer software. It’s important to find a balance between delaying updates and keeping your computer up-to-date and secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Delay updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Windows 10, you can delay updates from being installed for up to 35 days. Here are the steps you can follow to delay Windows Updates longer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open Windows Settings by clicking on the Start menu and selecting the gear icon, or by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click on “Update & Security”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select the “Windows Update” tab on the left-hand side.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Under “Update settings”, click on “Advanced options”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Under “Pause updates”, select the date up to which you want to pause updates. You can choose a date up to 35 days in the future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. To delay updates for a longer amount of time, you can create a Group Policy to defer feature updates. Here are the steps:\n

    • a. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • b. Type in “gpedit.msc<\/code>” and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • c. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • d. Find the “Select when Preview Builds and Feature Updates are received” policy and double-click on it. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • e. Select the “Enabled” option. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • f. In the “Options” section, select the number of days to defer feature updates. The maximum value is 365 days. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • g. Click on “Apply” and then “OK” to save the changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
