AMD has confirmed that Tesla’s new entertainment vehicle system will consist of a Ryzen processor and an RDNA 2 video card. The news was announced during the manufacturer’s virtual panel at Computex 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The news confirms a statement made by Elon Musk in January this year. According to the CEO of the electric car brand, the upgrade of the on-board system would allow the owners of the Tesla Model S and X to play The Witcher 3<\/em> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will have a Ryzen processing unit powering the entertainment system on both models. As well as, a discreet GPU based on RDNA 2 to run AAA games” <\/p>\nexplained Lisa Su, CEO of AMD<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Featuring 10 teraflops of power, the vehicular platform will be almost equivalent to the PlayStation <\/a>5. The Sony console uses a similar RDNA 2 video card and offers 10.28 teraflops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the announcement, leaker Patrick Schur rescued a leaked Tesla diagram in January this year. The project revealed that the automaker would use an AMD Navi 23 GPU in the next vehicle system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same computex 2021 dashboard, AMD unveiled the new graphics chips for notebooks including the Radeon 6600M. According to the information, the weakest model of the line is equivalent to the Navi 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to AMD’s details, the Radeon 6600M comes with 28 CUs and 1,792 shader units. On the other hand, the PlayStation 5 has 36 CUs and about 2,304 shader units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although not exactly the same, Tesla’s system and Sony console use basically the same technology. The difference is the smaller number of cores in the same GPU architecture, resulting in slightly lower performance. Additionally, Elon Musk announced that the Model S<\/a> with AMD’s system will begin delivery on June 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
